Divinity: Original Sin II selling twice as well as the first game

Released last week, Divinity: Original Sin II has quickly become Larian Studios’ biggest success. It has been four days since its launch on PC and the game is now in the hands of almost 350,000 players – the first Divinity: Original Sin sold 160,000 copies in an analogous time. Besides, the highest number of Divinity: Original Sin II concurrent players has been 86,000. That’s significantly more than other representatives of the classic RPG genre. Comparatively, Pillars of Eternity saw only 30,000 concurrent players, while the first Divinity: Original Sin fewer than 22,000.

Divinity: Original Sin II split-screen co-op, controller support and skill crafting discussed

Larian Studios has released another Kickstarter update, in which they talk about some new features coming to Divinity: Original Sin II, the sequel to its successful classic RPG from 2014. Those include split-screen co-op and controller support. The game will also allow players to craft their own skills, create runes of various effects and talk to ghosts. Besides, characters' deaths will be now more spectacular thanks to the use of rag doll physics and better animations.

Divinity: Original Sin II to launch on September 14

While it is still going to stay several months in Steam Early Access, Divinity: Original Sin II has got an exact release date. The sequel to one of the most praised classic RPGs of the recent years is scheduled to launch on September 14, 2017 on PC, informed Larian Studios. This news came along with the newest patch, adding two new areas where players can continue the game’s main story, relationship dialogues with companions and a bunch of enhancements to existing mechanics and features.

Divinity: Original Sin II is hitting Steam Early Access today

While already available for Kickstarter backers, playable alpha of Divinity: Original Sin II will officially go into Steam Early Access later today. This early build offers the very first act of the fantasy story as well as a PvP arena with a range of maps and two battle modes. The upcoming sequel to the 2014 successful RPG from Larian Studios will have us observe the in-game conflict from the other side, as seen by the user of the Source, a forbidden school of magic. In the first act our hero will have to escape from Fort Joy, a prison for convicted Sourcerers.
