Anyone can easily answer the question of "what games are you looking forward to playing in 2019." No biggie, right? But how many among these would be AAA titles? Half, maybe three quarters? Perhaps the biggest hustle of making small and independent games is promoting them without the budget that the biggest titles can enjoy. If the game turns out to be exceptionally good, it can achieve good sales by the word of mouth alon, but otherwise, many titles go by unnoticed. Where are the Gordon Freemans of yesteryear? I can still vividly remember, when on cold and bleak November nights, when nothing seemed to give hope any more, I would let my mind drift away to the never-ever land, where Gordon waited for me; offering a firm handshake, he would say “How nice to see you. Come on, I’ve got something I want to show you.” And follow him I have, and he showed me miracles. And the greatest among them, was Half-Life 3. Today, when I try to get to the same place again, my brain goes “Meh,” and I go playing Minecraft.
