The graphics are beautiful.

Japanese RPGs, whether classic or modern, have accustomed players to the fact that they can last for dozens or even hundreds of hours. This can be problematic for people who have very limited time for their favorite form of entertainment. Sea of Stars meets these expectations, because it's relatively short. The story can be finished in less than 30 hours.

The plot is rather clichéd, but it is redeemed by well-crafted characters, whom you can appreciate even for their imperfections, as these are often charming. The party's objective is to weed out the evil threatening the world. For this purpose, the player will engage in countless fights executed in the traditional turn-based system typical for the genre. Nonetheless, there was plenty of variety here, such as weakening the queued attacks of opponents. Besides fighting, most of the time will be spent exploring locations and solving puzzles, which is exceptionally fun to do.

Sea of Stars is a feast for the eyes of all pixel art lovers. The location designers did a fantastic job, giving us colorful lands filled with many interactive objects. Adding features like climbing or using a rope with a hook removed the tedious wandering along a predetermined path - now the player enjoys much greater freedom, and the movement is more dynamic.
