What is Yakuza 0 about?
Gangster feuds in neon-lit Tokyo of the 80s. You will find here a main story full of seriousness, drama and twists, as well as a number of optional tasks and activities in which the creators make fun of many social absurdities, referring to a slew of cultural and pop culture motifs.
The plot in Yakuza 0 plays a central role – the cutscenes aren't as long as in Kojima's games, but some last several minutes. Between these cutscenes, in which we learn about the story, we can freely explore the city streets in search of something to do. And it's not just about commiting illegal activities. You can visit a karaoke club for lively singing of disco hits.
What makes it worth playing?
In Game Pass you will find a whole lot of Yakuza games, and each of them will provide at least several dozen hours of emotional entertainment – without a doubt. However, it's best to reach for Zero at the very beginning of your adventure with this series. It won't scare you away with archaic mechanics, as it was released relatively recently and is also a prequel, so you'll be able to get to know both Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima well before they fall out each other. In addition, Yakuza 0 is like a "best of" game, containing all the most important elements that the creators have implemented throughout the history of the franchise. After playing this game, you will have a clear picture of whether this series is for you or not.
