Navigating the city
Tasks
When you land right in the middle of Night City and are left to yourself, you will be given a slight, cognitive shock: you will receive a journal filled with tasks to complete, a map full of markers, and a huge vertical city, whose skyscrapers are equal to the height of the monument of Jesus in Rio. So how to enter this world and not go crazy in the process?
Push the plot forward a little bit to get a little more practice, but remember that the main plot will not disappear unexpectedly. You will receive calls from many buddies and bosses who will have well-paid and quite exciting side missions for you. Don't put them aside, because they are not some simple content filler – rather, they're narratively engaging stories.
Moreover, completing them may have a real impact on the main storyline. This was mentioned by in our review – simply pursuing the conclusion of the story without paying any attention to side content means you won't be able to get any alternative endings. So be polite and play Cyberpunk like you would any other RPG.
Side quests are not only fun, they also let you earn money. So if the police ever calls you asking for help, spend fifteen minutes neutralizing the suspects – it will be worth it.
Map
You will spend the beginning of the game primarily in the north of the city, so that you'll be able to master the movement of the city a little better. A map filled with tags will of course help you learn more about it. You will find there vendors, a few markers for main missions, as well as more enigmatic question marks like those of The Witcher 3. There will also be other symbols. These are usually optional activities that will be activated when you are in their vicinity.
Don't be afraid to complete them, especially at the beginning, as they're usually quite easy and rewarding both in terms of creds and XP. However, once the rest of the city opens up to you, I appeal for reason. The further away you go from the northern part, the more difficult challenges await you. They will be defined by the modified adjective "very high" and consider it a clear warning. I have overestimated my capabilities several times. Explore the city and perform all kinds of tasks, but obey the suggestions of the game.
PRO TIP
You won't find out whether a given task is too difficult for your character or not in the game world. You have to check it on the map – remember to take a look at the map before you go to the destination. If it's too difficult, return after a few hours.
