Cyberpunk 2077 - 7 Tips Before You Play

You haven't started playing Cyberpunk 2077 yet, and you are wondering how not to make beginner's mistakes? It's time for some simple advice to make it easier and more enjoyable for you to start the adventure in Night City.

Ways to tackle glitches and bugs

Saving the game saves lives.

Saving the game

I've been a huge fan of saving the game since losing all my progress in Skyrim by a devastating bug (using a single slot served me right, I suppose). This is so far the best way to make sure Cyberpunk's abundant glitches don't ruin your experience. Get in the habit of quick-saving the game every 5-10 minutes by pressing F5, and make sure you save the game manually every once in a while. Reloading the game often clears bugs like jammed characters or wrong item placement, allowing you to avoid completing the entire mission from the beginning.

Manual optimization

You've certainly learned in the last few days that Cyberpunk 2077 is a major technological failure – especially on past-generation consoles, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Admittedly, some lucky ones play without any major problems and CDPR is constantly trying to address the situation with optimizing patches, but users of last-gen consoles should know that turning off motion blur and chromatic aberration yields quite life-saving improvements of the game's framerate.

ThePCs can also take advantage of the above advice, although it will also help to disable ray tracing and lower the range and resolution of cascade shadows. Internet users discovered that the latter option can magically increase the performance of Cyberpunk 2077 from 20 to even 60 frames per second. If it's not a miracle, then we don't know what is.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I sincerely hope that this advice – despite its simplicity – will help you to enjoy the world of Cyberpunk more upon your first approach. I would like to wish you all a lot of fun and tons of immersion, as well as a lot of patience for these cursed bugs. It is simply worth to suffer through the suboptimal technical condition of the game for an unforgettable power trip in Night City. I have barely a dozen or so hours of gameplay behind me, but I already feel that it will not end in the coming months.

Then he interpreted Iranian dramas and the Joker, writing for cinematography journal, which, sadly, no longer exists. His writing credentials include a degree in film studies, but his thesis was strictly devoted to video games. He has been writing for Gamepressure since March 2020, first writing a lot about movies, then in the newsroom, and eventually, he became a specialist in everything. He currently edits and writes articles and features. A long-time enthusiast of the most bizarre indie games and arthouse cinema. He idolizes surrealism and postmodernism. He appreciates the power of absurdity. Which is probably why he also tried soccer refereeing for 2 years (with so-so results). He tends to over-philosophize, so watch out.
