Gamepressure Games of 2020

The Last of Us: Part 2 or Cyberpunk 2077? Maybe the inconspicuous Hades, which absolutely stormed our hearts? We've chosen our games of the year.

3. The Last of Us: Part II

  1. Release date: June 2020
  2. Genre: action adventure game
  3. Platform: PS4

No other premiere this year, not even Cyberpunk 2077, has provoked such stormy discussions as the continuation of the 2013's hit by Naughty Dog. The Last of Us: Part II has been liked by almost all the reviewers and at the same time has polarized the players, arousing admiration and worship in one group, at the same time evoking not dislike but pure hatred in another. Both emotional spectra have been regularly featured on the web for weeks after the premiere in the form of thousands of posts and comments defending or attacking this undoubtedly unique - this must be acknowledged by both sides of the "conflict" - game.

The whole storm was caused by the story, in which the scriptwriters were relentless. The Last of Us: Part II is a story about an uninterrupted spiral of revenge, presented in a mature and bold way, not afraid to deliberately arouse negative emotions in the viewer, which are supposed to emphasize the moral of the whole story. It is a game that brutally deals with expectations in the name of narrative ambitions. For a high-budget title it is surprisingly bold and, without hesitation, ready not to fit in with the tastes of some of the audience and in return delight the others. Regardless of which group you belong to, it is worth appreciating this courage in a deluge of extremely safe titles.

With its unique storyline, The Last of Us: Part II also shines in technical terms - it's without a doubt one of the prettiest games available on PlayStation 4 (and PlayStation 5, thanks to the backwards compatibility). And the mechanics of the game, although not revolutionary, impresses with the fine-tuning of details, including the excellent artificial intelligence of the opponents and excellent level design.
