Gamepressure Games of 2020

The Last of Us: Part 2 or Cyberpunk 2077? Maybe the inconspicuous Hades, which absolutely stormed our hearts? We've chosen our games of the year.

Table of Contents

8. Ori and the Will of the Wisps

  1. Release date: March 2020
  2. Genre: Metroidvania
  3. Platforms: PC, XSX, XOne, Switch

We had to wait for a long time to finally get the continuation of a great metroidvania game from 2015 -Ori and the Blind Forest . This sequel was announced in 2017 without a specific release date. A year later, it was reported that the game will make its debut in 2019, but this deadline was not met and eventually Ori and the Will of the Wisps reached the players in March 2020 - proving on the spot that such a long wait definitely paid off.

Like part one, the game, from the very beginning, captivates with its oneiric graphic design, creating an atmosphere of mystery and delightful scenery. It is accompanied by an also wonderful sound layer, and together, they make for one of the most wonderful audiovisual experiences we could count on this year.

All this is accompanied by an exciting spectrum of emotions, from joy to sadness, great narration, and sophisticated gameplay mechanics. Will of the Wisps is a title a bit easier than its exceptionally difficult predecessor, but still offering a solid portion of challenges, promoting patience and manual skills. This is one of the best representatives of the metroidvania games - and the competition is huge.
