Best Video Game Characters - The Protagonists that Defined the 2010s

Most good games let us play as distinctive, memorable characters. Here's a list of some of the best protagonists from the games of the last decade or so.

Table of Contents

Maxine Caulfield – Life Is Strange

Max Caulfield from the adventure game Life Is Strange is another heroine with whose personality and dilemmas many recipients of a similar age can identify . She is a strong introvert. She hangs out in her room, listening to her favorite music, and one of her few forms of self-expression is her passion for photography. She also loves classic movies and animé. Not all her peers like her, they sometimes judge her badly, although Max is very reasonable – she cares about others and seems to make quite mature decisions.

Max's usual teenage problems quickly fade into the background when it's revealed that she has the ability to turn back time and prevent some tragic events from happening. Meanwhile, not only is one of her friends gone missing, but a tornado is also approaching the city. Watching young Maxine handle it all is exciting and really engaging.

Nathan Drake – Uncharted 3 and Uncharted 4

Nathan Drake is a textbook example of an iconic protagonist in the gaming world. A professional treasure hunter, adventurer and swashbuckler, he successfully imitates Indiana Jones. He is similar to him, but at the same time he also has so much charisma and his own character that players have never accused him of being a mere ripoff of the iconic hero.

Drake turns out to be extremely intelligent – he learned history and foreign languages himself. He can get carried away from time to time, but is generally quite composed. He handles stress well and often makes sarcastic jokes. Meetings with Nathan Drake are always a promise of extraordinary adventures. Thanks to it, you can feel a little like treasure hunter traveling around the world and solving inventive puzzles. It's hard not to like this guy.
