What is Nioh about?

If you like challenges – Nioh is one of the top action RPGs on the market. It's set in a fictional world based on the Japanese Sengoku period. The game world is filled with elements of Japanese folklore, so fans of these climates will surely be thrilled. The hero we play as is a warrior named William, inspired by the historical figure of William Adams, known as the first samurai Westerner.

The Nioh universe is not only about political conflicts (inspired by history, of course), but also... yokai demons. They are the main enemies that we will have to overcome in order to restore order in the world. The gameplay is focused on exploring new levels and fighting enemies.

Why is it worth playing?

Nioh primarily focuses on Japan from the period corresponding to historical Middle Ages. Accurate rendition of many cultural elements makes this game an interesting and even educational experience.

In terms of gameplay, Nioh is often compared to Dark Souls due to the difficult combat that requires careful calculation of our every move. However, it introduces a unique system, which consists in adopting one of three attitudes during fights – they determine how much damage you deal or receive. The multiplayer mode, also quite similar to that from Dark Souls, allows you to summon companions to aid us in battles. This is extremely useful, especially considering the difficulty of the game. If you like soulslikes or are interested in Japanese vibes, you should give this title a chance.
