  4. In a nutshell: an edition of Fallout that offers the greatest freedom of gameplay

What's Fallout 4 about?

Fallout 4, like its predecessors, is post-apo. The game begins shortly before a nuclear warhead explodes over the suburbs of Boston. The main character is introduced to us together with their family, but after the explosion, they end up in a fallout shelter. After two hundred years, they wake up only to witness the murder of their partner and the kidnapping of their son. After that, they come to the surface as the only survivor from Vault 111, and only then does the game proper begin. The world changed during the two centuries when humans have been hidden from deadly radiation, yet it remains hostile to humans. The main character sets off on a journey through the post-apocalyptic wastelands, during which they try to find their son and find out who and why killed their spouse.

Why is it worth playing?

Fallout 4 closely follows the well-established formula known from all previous installments. We have the same system of attributes, iconography, and, additionally, a free choice of perspective (we can move in both the first and third-person perspective). These are the all good solutions, but they're not the greatest advantage of this particular installment of the Fallout series. First of all, there's a much more extensive system of creating things by hand (including the disposal of all items) and even the construction of buildings. For fans of upgrading and crafting gear and a creative approach to surviving in the post-apocalyptic world, the game is perfect (despite ubiquitous bugs and subpar plot).

Has been writing articles for Gamepressure since March 2022 about both games and movies. On a daily basis, she deals with creating storylines for games, so she knows the industry inside out. She's been playing since she was little; she usually chooses JRPGs or indie games, although she also has a huge weakness for 3D platformers. Feels most comfortable when writing, so she considers the combination of creating texts with a passion for games a natural sequence of events. Privately, she collects Tamagotchi and takes care of her small, cat family. She happily shares her favorite games, cat photos, and other various things on Instagram.
