Doom Eternal

The 2016 reboot of Doom was a very good game. Doom Eternal is just as great, if not better. The creators expanded the levels, made sure there was a greater variety of locations, story cut-scenes and, above all, increased the pace of combat even more. At times, it seems that the novelty has come a little too much, as Doom Slayer must now show remarkable dexterity in jumping during numerous platforming sequences.
Fortunately, all is forgotten in the vortex of combat, which is even more engaging and spectacular. Even though we do the same thing for almost 30 hours in every demon-filled arena, the action in Doom Eternal just doesn't get boring. And for dessert, there are numerous references to the father of all FPS, the classic 1994 installment of the series. Doom Eternal unites generations!
The authors managed to achieve remarkable harmony between dynamic action, spectacular, and somewhat comic, cruelty and the need to use all Doom Slayer's gadgets. This feels like a perfect symbiosis of continuous movement, shooting and hitting at point-blank, and the principles of extremely smooth combat are understood in an instant. Doom Eternal is a festival of slaying hellish monsters!

Half-Life: Alyx

Half-Life: Alyx is the bittersweet title in this list. Sweet, because this is, after all, Valve's new Half-Life. The game is unique, unique, addictive, wonderful – just like previous parts in their time. Bitter – because you need VR goggles to play – at least for now. The legendary studio finally released the game that many had been waiting for, but unfortunately, only a small fraction of fans of the universe can play it.
But if we are lucky enough to have the right set of hardware (or a few spare thousands of dollars), Half-Life: Alyx will allow us to use it in the best possible way. The Half-Life world really comes alive with this technology and amazes with unique solutions. Here, simply watching objects is as engaging as exchanging fire with opponents or environmental puzzles. As befits Half-Life, there is also an engaging plot that shows the fate of Alyx, Gordon's companion, in the period between the action of the first and second parts of the game. Maybe VR is the future after all?
