Dialogues

"And in the Netflix series, sir, it's like this: boring, sir... Nothing's happening. Nothing. Yes sir... Dialogues are bad... Very bad dialogues." - The Witcher from Netflix vs The Witcher 3 – We Compare Sapkowski's Adaptations - dokument - 2020-01-07
"And in the Netflix series, sir, it's like this: boring, sir... Nothing's happening. Nothing. Yes sir... Dialogues are bad... Very bad dialogues."

This is the area where I hold the strongest opinions, so it won't take long. Of course, in-game conversations are at a higher level. They convey the complex nature of individual characters better (mainly Geralt), they're entertaining, not as rude, and they're more subtle and deeper. At the same time, the vocabulary is broader and livider, more interesting in content, and although it takes more time than in the series, it is less prone to fatigue the viewer (player).

Unfortunately, in the Netflix production, conversations only really shine when they faithfully quote the books – the rest is usually either paraphrases void of elegance, or banal and boring clichés. This is definitely something to work on.

THE VOTE IN THE OFFICE

The most unanimous category according to the results of the survey – exactly everyone from the editorial team erred on the side of the game's dialogues, including more than half considering them "definitely" better.

Which had better dialogs?
