The Witcher from Netflix vs The Witcher 3 - We Compare Sapkowski's Adaptations

After the premiere of the Netflix Witcher we woke up in a world where we have two adaptations of Andrzej Sapkowski's books that have gained international fame and recognition. We try to compare them applying different criteria.

I mentioned Jaskier's crude humor, much less entertaining than in the games – it's time to talk a bit more about it. The series has two methods of making the viewers smile: having someone say "fuck," and showing horny stuff. My favorite example here is the scene with Geralt and Jaskier before the feast in Cintra. In addition, the series' comedy is limited to the simple nature of the relation between the Witcher and Jaskier – a gloomy monster hunter and a cheerful jerk whose actions find trouble.

The Wild Hunt operates with a slightly wider range of humorous expressions. CD Projekt RED, turns out a diligent student of Andrzej Sapkowski and, as a rule, entertains players, as the writer did, with anachronistic motives close to our reality (such as the various jokes uttered by NPCs as we pass by) or prevalent intertextuality. Crude humor is also there, but it is aptly accommodated in the universe – being the tool used mostly by dwarves and commoners. And Jaskier. This makes it easier to draw the line that separates obscene jokes from the elegant ones. The series sometimes lacks such distinction.

THE VOTE IN THE OFFICE

Again, my colleagues (84.2% of them) prefer the humor of the game – although less than half consider it "definitely" better.

Which was funnier?
