You only call Broforce when things go dire – for example, when aliens stand at your doorstep, and terrorists blew up the Capitol. It's an elite, paramilitary organization that brings together the greatest heroes in history. The best there are: John Rambo, Robocop, the Texas Ranger, or John McClane (the only guy in this admirable line-up, who doesn't have a franchise under his own name, so just for the sake of clarity – he's the protagonist of Die Hard). Free Lives studio developed the game on a budget – they didn't have the money needed to obtain the licenses for each of these iconic characters, so they exercised some creativity, and just mixed the word "Bro" in the names. So we have Rambro, Bronan, or Brobocop, but they're not fooling us. There's no other game that features so many iconic heroes of the American cinema – even if their presence is – how to put it? Rather informal.

And what does Broforce feel like as a game? It's a pretty classic 2D side-scrolling shooter, reminiscent of titles like Contra or Metal Slug. We traverse the levels of the game, destroying everything that moves – even if it doesn't move, why not shoot it anyway? Just to be sure. Forget saving the game – the game consists in reaching subsequent checkpoints, which our hero claims by setting up American flags. All that is complemented with nice, pixel-art graphics.
