The plot of Pathologic Classic HD is same as in the original game and it focuses on a mysterious virus that spreads across a small city, causing many casualties.

The Nonary Games includes 2009's 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors and Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward - a game which came out three years later. Since the plots of the two games are strongly connected, it is recommended to play through them in chronological order.

The game begins when the protagonist arrives at the factory and learns that its owner, Anna Voralberg, is dead.
