In the game you can either fight as a member of the American Army and the Marine Corps or side with the Imperial Japanese Army and their Special Naval Landing Forces. As you play, you take part in military landings on beaches, struggles in underground mazes of caves and shootouts in lavish jungles – all that in historical locations, such as Corregidor Island, Guadalcanal or Iwo Jima. The most notable of innovations introduced in Rising Storm is the ability to promote your soldier to a Hero level, which grants him access to rare weapons and gear, and makes him stand out visually on the battlefield. The Rising Storm expansion is based on a modified version of Unreal Engine 3, which translates into high fidelity of graphics.
