A science-fiction MMORTS game created by the independent studio Taitale Studios. Novus Aeterno is set in a huge galaxy that centuries ago was ruled by five great empires; although periods of war were mingled with periods of peace, it had a positive influence on the economy and technological development. As a result of a great catastrophe however, the old order of things collapsed - huge motherships with survivors hibernated on-board became the only remnants of the old civilization. The player assumes the role of a Consul of one of said empires, and their goal is to rebuild the strength of their nation. Mechanics-wise, Novus Aeterno is based on the fundamentals of classic MMORTS games, though it does not divide the experience into sessions, instances, matches, or closed maps. Instead, everything happens in a constantly evolving universe, where the players have complete freedom of action and compete against one another only where and when they want to.

The player assumes the role of Captain Jack Houston, the first human that was supposed to set foot on Venus. The ship manages to reach the planet, but a dangerous malfunction results in the ship crashing. The protagonist manages to survive the event but the damaged software keeps him in cryogenic sleep for the next thousand years. When Houston finally wakes up, he is subjected to a different Venus – the planet is overgrown with thick jungle. Moreover, it quickly turns out that the area is inhabited by various alien tribes which are controlled by the Necronauts, a race of vile beings with the ability to raise dead bodies. The player’s task is to discover the monsters’ origins and stop their horrible plans. The gameplay of Jack Houston and the Necronauts sees us travel through varied locations, talk with neutral characters, and solve various puzzles that involve searching for useful items. The game is characteristic for its unique convention – the game maintains a retro atmosphere, with character figurines animated using the stop motion technique.

Another expansion to The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar developed by Turbine Entertainment. As the title suggests, this add-on allows players to visit the plains of Rohan – a kingdom that has to face armies of orcs marked with the sign of the White Hand. The player is tasked with supporting the warriors led by Burnoth, son of Baldeg, in the fight against the forces of Evil, as well as facilitating the alliance with the Ents – the ancient dwellers of Fangorn. The Lord of the Rings Online: Riders of Rohan expands the in-game world by the titular realm (featuring area twice as large as the one introduced by the Mines of Moria expansion) as well as two minor locations – the area surrounding Fangorn and the Hill of Amon Hen. These, however, are not all the novelties introduces by the expansion, as the level cap has been raised to 85, and the players get a war horse (one receives this faithful steed upon completing a special task). The war horse is not only a new means of transportation, since it also supports our character in battles against new types of enemies, such as the Warg Riders. Moreover, when mounting a horse, player’s character gains access to additional unique abilities. Joining other riders allows the players to mount charges or take a more tactical approach and attack the enemies from the flank. To top it all, the expansion allows the player to rebuild the burnt city of Snowborn by completing hundreds of side quests.
