Heroes of Might and Magic IV: Winds of War

Strategy 26 February 2003

The second official expansion to Heroes of Might and Magic IV, which was developed by the New World Computing studio and released in the spring of 2002. The action of the newest expansion, Winds of War, takes place in the kingdom of Channon, which lies on the northern continent of the land of Axeoth. It has become the target of an attack from five hostile armies, which desire the riches that the capital of the kingdom, Ryloss, has amassed. Over the span of the six new mini-campaigns the players can lead one of the five invading armies. The only exception is the sixth campaign, where the five forces are engaged on one map in a final battle over the dominion of the kingdom of Channon. The title also introduces numerous novelties, such as previously unavailable heroes, new units and artifacts, five brand new locations, an original soundtrack and an enhanced map editor.

Strategy 24 September 2002

The first official expansion to the fourth installment of the renowned turn-based strategy series from the New World Computing studio. Heroes of Might and Magic IV: The Gathering Storm introduces over 20 individual scenarios and 6 new mini-campaigns, in which the key character is the mighty sorcerer named Hexis. When a surge in his power causes a series of cataclysms that begin to threaten the entire land of Lodwar, five heroes set out to challenge the antagonist as each of them represents an in-game faction - the forces of Order, Chaos, Nature, Might and Life. The expansion also features a wide range of novelties, such as an original soundtrack, 4 previously unavailable units, 7 new buildings and 16 unknown artifacts. The most important change that comes with this production is the improved multiplayer mode, something the players have been desperately waiting for. It offers the option to enjoy multiplayer skirmishes on principles similar to the previous installments of the series.
