The Babylon Project

A simulator set in a science fiction world. The game tries to transfer the world of a popular TV series called Babylon 5 into a game called Freespace 2. Initially, the game functioned as a modification for that game, however, over time it became a full – although free – game. Similarly to the original, The Babylon Project is an arcade space simulator. However, the difference here is that names of all ships, proper names and plots of all scenarios refer to the aforementioned TV series. The developers recreated models of ships as well as all nuances of Babylon 5 universe world (e.g. original voices, music and fragments of videos). The game also offers a multiplayer mode where the players can control fighters known from the TV series and face each other.

This also applies to programmers from the Phoenix Simulation Software studio, who, in tribute to the legendary vehicle, created Concorde Professional, a paid supplement to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004.

The Sims 2: University allows your Sims to pursue higher education and get a taste of the university life. Your Sims can go to college and earn specialist knowledge and new colleagues, as well as have fun at parties. There are eleven areas of study to choose from, and four careers to pursue after getting a degree. University also offers a wide range of new interactions, objects and locations, including coffee shops, sports halls, football pitches and swimming pools. However, you also have to remember that students are often short on money. To earn more of it, your Sims can try a variety of part-time jobs or try some less licit ways of getting rich. The main objective in the expansion is reaching the highest possible social status on campus.

Silent Hunter III is the third installment in the World War II submarine simulator series. In comparison with the previous game, Ubisoft implemented many changes and improvement in Silent Hunter III, with modern 3D visuals that render the game in a rather realistic way. The game offers us four types of U-boots in ten different development versions. All interiors and onboard devices (we can use all of them) are rendered in 3D with highest attention to detail. Each member of our crew has their own individual model and a skill set on which we base their duties. Moreover, they gain experience as we play making them more useful and reliable. Silent Hunter III focuses on a campaign during which we climb up the military rank ladder. The game comes with a level editor, in addition to single player missions, that allows players to create their own levels. Developers also included a multiplayer mode for those who are interested.

Flaming Cliffs is the title of the unofficial addition to one of the most realistic aeronautical simulators, Lock On: Modern Air Combat. Compared to the basic version of the game, the control system, weaponry, dynamics and physics of flight have been improved, and the developers of the add-on put emphasis on the quality of the game, so that players received quite faithfully behaving models of planes.

A first unofficial expansion to Silent Hunter III, developed by X1 Software. The authors introduced a new single player campaign consisting of twenty-two scenarios, four new multiplayer missions, and a few tutorials that enable us to practice some of the more complicated maneuvers. The new campaign takes place during a number of different operations, including the Dunkirk evacuation or D-Day landings. Moreover, we are given sixty new sea maps located all around the world. Aside from new content, Silent Hunters III: Seawolves offers the ability to resupply at sea, a number of new radio dispatches, new ships and objects, and slight improvements to graphics, including more detailed ship models.
