RPG 10 November 2015

The fourth major installment in the post-apocalyptic RPG series launched in 1997 by Black Isle Studios and Interplay. Starting from the third part, released in 2008, Bethesda acquired the rights to the franchise and took the reins of the subsequent production set in the cult post-apocalyptic universe. The game’s style is reminiscent of its two predecessors, in which – unlike in the first parts of the cycle – we experience the events from first-person perspective.

Action 23 June 2015

The fourth installment in the action game series, featuring the titular comic book superhero. The game was developed by Rocksteady, the studio which had previously worked on Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. The plot depicts the next chapter of Batman’s adventures. This time, the hero must face Scarecrow, who successfully terrorized Gotham City.

A two-dimensional platformer with RPG elements, produced by Moon Studios, an independent developer. It belongs to a subgenre called metroidvania. We assume the role of a young and inexperienced forest spirit who will try to learn more about himself and the world around him during his long journey. In the game we explore vast areas full of hidden passages and shortcuts while solving puzzles and facing challenges testing our agility.

An action RPG and a spiritual successor to the bestselling Dark Souls series and its predecessor, Demon's Souls. The game was developed by their creator – Hidetaka Miyazaki – and his studio From Software. The plot takes us into a dark fantasy universe presented in a style reminiscent of the nineteenth-century Victorian era. Residents of a bleak metropolis called Yharnam are afflicted by a mysterious plague which turns people into ferocious beasts.

Another installment in the popular FPS franchise. Visceral Games, the studio known mainly for the excellent Dead Space sci-fi series, developed their first major installment in the long-standing Battlefield franchise. It's a result of the transition of the franchise to a two-year production cycle, similar to the one made by its competitor, Call of Duty. Unlike the previous parts, this one is focused on the efforts of police forces against organized crime.

A real-time strategy set in a science-fiction world developed by independent French studio Tindalos. The game focuses on a war raging in a distant part of the universe between three empires competing for access to the titular, valuable resource – Etherium. In the story campaign we choose one of the factions characterized by different abilities and weaknesses, and are given access to one of three specializations: mastery of the weather, predicting the future, or advanced espionage.

A science fiction horror adventure game created by Frictional Games, Swedish studio known for such titles as Amnesia: The Dark Descent and the Penumbra series. The game is set in a top-secret research center PATHOS-2, where a series of failed experiments resulted in human-like machines killing off most of the staff and taking over the facility. You play as one of the survivors, who has to safely evade the hostile, machine infested environment.

The fifth major installment in a bestselling science fiction FPS game franchise, whose consecutive editions were exclusively released for different generations of Microsoft consoles. This is the first iteration dedicated to Xbox One, developed by 343 Industries - the studio responsible for the previous installment as well as a low-budget production Halo: Spartan Assault. In terms of the plot, this new title is a sequel to the previous game, and follows the events of Halo 4.

A science-fiction first-person perspective online shooter in which the focus was placed on cooperation. The title was developed by the creators of the Left 4 Dead series – studio Turtle Rock. In many aspects Evolve is similar to the titles in the aforementioned series. The game takes place in an undetermined future and focuses on four-player teams hunting alien beasts. The members of the team belong to four different classes with various abilities that supplement each other during the game.

Survarium is set in a post-apocalyptic universe of a near future, where human civilization lost a war against the forces of nature. Players take command of one of the remaining humans, who now gather in small groups in order to survive in this hostile environment. The players meet up in instances, and the missions they have to undertake often require cooperation in small teams.

The action of Age of Decadence is set after the fall of a powerful Empire which, attacked by the brutal race of Q’antaari, experienced a long war, with immortal gods of good and chaos involved. In the game, we assume the role of a hero who finds an ancient map that is the key to learning the secrets of the past.

A 4X strategy game set in a fantasy universe and produced by the Polish studio Wastelands Interactive. The production was inspired by the cult game Master of Magic from 1994, and the authors designed it as its spiritual successor. The game takes place in a multi-dimensional, procedurally generated universe, where the fierce struggle for dominance requires the use of magic and sword. The gameplay focuses on four classic aspects: exploration, expansion, exploitation, and extermination.

The game was created by indie studio Aterdux Entertainment and it's a more developed version of their previous project, Discord Times. Legends of Eisenwald is set in a world combining both the medieval reality and legends. The story focuses on typical human motivations such as greed, lust for power, or desire for revenge. The gameplay centers mostly on exploring locations, gathering treasures, and fighting battles.

The game's protagonist, Christopher Raven, is a man obsessed with a burning desire for bloody revenge on the pirates who murdered his parents many years ago. The dark plot of Raven's Cry is greatly influenced by the player’s choices.

An online role-playing MOBA game and a spin-off of the popular Magicka series. The production was developed by a separate team belonging to Paradox Interactive. The game focuses on PvP battles between two teams of four mages each, who fight by casting various spells. The magic mechanics were based on those from the main series and involve both single spells and combos, which can be both offensive and defensive.

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is a production of an independent studio Dennaton Games, the developer duo of Jonathan “Cactus” Söderström and Dennis Wedin. The player controls a bandit, who, provided there is a payoff, undertakes a number of risky jobs. Depending on the mission conditions, the hero can be either forced to avoid a direct confrontation, or brutally eliminate all enemies.

The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot is set in the fantasy kingdom of Opulencia, in which every citizen has their own castle with a treasure room full of valuables. An first-person perspective survival horror game, created by the Polish developer Techland, known for Dead Island and the Call of Juarez series, among others. The player assumes the role of a character who is trying to survive in a zombie-infested metropolis. The sandbox gameplay of Dying Light is divided into two phases. During the day, the game puts main focus on exploration and acquisition of raw materials and weapons, while at night players must face hordes of the living dead.

A science fiction adventure game set in a vast open world setting. The game was created by an Ukrainian developer studio with a somewhat unique name – Flying Cafe for Semianimals, whose members formerly worked on such titles as Heroes of Might & Magic V and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat. The story focuses on a young man and his robotic female companion, who travel to desert hills of Mongolia. The player has to find his partner’s missing body parts and bring her back to full functionality.

This is the debut from the independent developer Squad. The game is an unusual simulator requiring the player to develop their own space program from scratch. Kerbal Space Program combines features of many genres, but the most important part here is an extensive ship editor, which allows the player to design and build their own, unique spacecraft. The ship is then supposed to fly and land safely on a moon of the Kerbin planet.
