RPG with card games elements, taking us to a dark fantasy world. In Ancient Enemy we play the role of a hero who prepares for the final clash with the forces of evil. The pillar of the game is turn-based battles based on solitaire-inspired rules.
Ancient Enemy is an RPG with card game elements, inspired by such games as Darkest Dungeon and Slay the Spire. It was developed by Grey Alien Games, a studio specializing in the genre, in cooperation with Scottish artist Jen Pattison and designer Jim Rossignol.
Ancient Enemy takes us on a journey to a fantastic world controlled by the forces of evil. We take on the role of the protagonist, who travels through this gloomy land, trying to regenerate his overblown power. Only in this way will he be able to face his monstrous nemesis and try to finally deal with the dark forces.
One of the basis of gameplay in Ancient Enemy are duels with enemies, which are fought in turn-based mode. Battles are based on rules that are an interesting variation on classic solitaire. We play cards associated with certain spells or offensive and defensive skills, trying to provide resistance to such, while exploiting the weaknesses of certain opponents. In addition, we can help ourselves with a variety of potions.
As we progress, we gradually discover the game world and make decisions that affect the further course of the story. In addition, over time we acquire more and more powerful cards, which is important because the further we venture, the more powerful enemies stand in our way.
Graphics in Ancient Enemy is made in a dark, cartoonish style.
