Assassin's Creed: Shadows Expansion Pack
AC Shadows: Claws of Awaji
Release Date: September 16, 2025
An expansion created for Assassin's Creed: Shadows. In the Claws of Awaji DLC we travel to the titular island which is a new open map free to us to explore. We can search for treasures, complete new main & secondary quests, fight enemies and use new gear, including the Bo combat stick.
Assassin’s Creed: Shadows - Claws of Awaji is a DLC for the thirteenth main installment of the best-selling Assassin’s Creed series. The expansion is backed by the company Ubisoft, which is vigilantly overseeing the brand.
The add-on has been made available for free to all those who ordered the base version of the game Assassin’s Creed: Shadows before its premiere. The remaining players had to pay for it.
Assassin’s Creed: Shadows - Claws of Awaji takes us to the titular island across the bay from Osaka. Naoe and Yasuke go there to find the lost treasure. The expedition is not easy, as members of the Sanzoku Ippa faction are hot on their heels, sending trackers after them and setting traps for them.
The biggest novelty introduced in Assassin’s Creed: Shadows - Claws of Awaji is the titular piece of land, which we can freely explore. Additionally, the add-on brings opponents unavailable in the base version of the game, as well as new equipment, led by the so-called Bo, which is a combat stick. We can complete main quests pushing the plot forward, as well as various side missions. The expansion provides a total of about 10 hours of fun.
Assassin’s Creed: Shadows - Claws of Awaji is a non-standalone expansion, therefore it requires the base version of the game Assassin’s Creed: Shadows.

Ubisoft's 2025 results are below expectations, but the company doesn't blame Assassin's Creed: Shadows for that. It actually seems quite satisfied with the release of this game. The question is: is it right?

Game Ratings for Assassin's Creed: Shadows - Claws of Awaji Video Game.
TechRaptor: 5.5 / 10 by Andrew Stretch
Claws of Awaji is more of the base AC Shadows game. A beautiful world whose open storytelling style does far more to hurt than help, while the new weapon and one of the boss fights are a nice positive, the rest spends too much time being bland or getting in it's own way.
Loot Level Chill: 8 / 10 by Chris White
It may not be one of the best expansions the series has seen, but Assassin's Creed Shadows: Claws of Awaji still has some neat ideas that make it worth playing.
Use a Potion: 8 / 10
Claws of Awaji doesn’t push Assassin’s Creed Shadows into bold new territory, but it doesn’t need to. By sharpening combat, making fun inclusions across the board, and tying up the main story’s loose ends, it gives players a rewarding reason to return to Naoe and Yasuke’s dangerous adventure. Awaji may feel familiar at times (and Yasuke fans may be disappointed that he takes a back seat to Naoe), but the expansion still manages to add a tense and satisfying chapter to Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
