An expansion for CK3, opening the fourth chapter of this strategy and introducing mechanics related to the nomads from the Middle Ages. Crusader Kings III: Khans of the Steppe allows us to take control of the nomads, being constantly on the move and dominating new areas they visit.
Crusader Kings III: Khans of the Steppe is an expansion opening the fourth chapter of the strategy game Crusader Kings III, originally released in 2020. The add-on was prepared by the authors of the base version of this production, namely the Paradox Development Studio team.
As the title suggests, Crusader Kings III: Khans of the Steppe takes us to the Asian steppes and introduces mechanics inspired by the nomads of the Middle Ages living there.
Among the new elements, the so-called Nomadic Government is the most important one. The people led by us must constantly move in search of resources and it depends on us how they treat similar groups they encounter on their way. We can deal with them peacefully and solve problems through negotiation, or we can take the path of violence and forcefully conquer new territories.
And speaking of pastures - the Herd system plays an important role here, through which we manage our horses and cattle. Our animals constitute an extremely important resource, allowing us to sustain our subordinates and serving as currency in negotiations.
Climate changes make survival in the steppes difficult. Although there are regular periods here when the weather favors the development of herds, providing prosperity to our people, equally regularly severe frosts arrive forcing our people to embark on a further journey.
The add-on also introduces a new parameter named Domination, which can increase as we acquire new territory. After it reaches its maximum value, we can even try to aim for the title of Ruler of the Universe, equating ourselves with Genghis Khan himself.
Crusader Kings III: Khans of the Steppe is a non-standalone expansion, therefore it requires the base version of the game Crusader Kings III.
