The Game Boy Advance is a console that has etched its name in gold in the history of the video game industry, mainly due to a series of iconic productions. Among these were numerous tactical RPGs. Various developers have tried to capture their "magic" over the years. Among them is the independent Spectra Entertainment, the studio behind Dream Tactics, which is enriched with card game and roguelike elements.

Gameplay

In Dream Tactics events are viewed from a top-down perspective.

The Hero and his team

During the game we take on the role of a hero named Neru and lead a small squad of characters varied in terms of combat skills, strengths, and weaknesses. As we progress, we recruit additional companions, and the key to success is assembling a four-person team whose members complement each other.

Turn and card-based battles

This is particularly important as we explore the Dreamland, regularly encountering enemies in the form of malevolent pillows, with whom we engage in turn-based battles. During these encounters, we play cards associated with specific abilities, linking them into impressive and effective combinations. Although each character can use several cards in one turn, the challenge is compounded by the fact that their set is randomly drawn for each turn.
