TheSixthAxis: 8 / 10 by Stefan L
Octopath Traveler is a wonderful collection of adventures and stories, but the quirk of storytelling that lends it its name is both its greatest strength and weakness. While the turn-based combat and 'breaking' enemies makes practically every battle engaging, the eight tales this game tells don't really feel like they need to be told together. It's a little unbalanced because of this, but this remains a charming, beguiling JRPG.
VideoGamer: 8 / 10 by Adam Cook
Octopath Traveler is a deep, diverse, interesting, sometimes risque and sometimes funny JRPG that you should play.
God is a Geek: 8.5 / 10 by Mikhail Madnani
Octopath Traveler feels like a gem from the golden age of JRPGs that is something I've been craving with stunning visuals, music that deserves a vinyl release, and so much more.

Octopath Traveler Description
Octopath Traveler is a jRPG created by the Japanese team of Silicon Studio Corporation - in the developers' portfolio you can find extremely warmly welcomed games Bravely Default: Flying Fairy and Bravely Second: End Layer. The production described here was first presented to the world in January 2017 during a conference promoting the Nintendo Switch console.
Plot
Octopath Traveler takes players to the fantastic continent of Orsterra, where they travel in the skin of one of the eight heroes. Each of them not only has a unique origin, but also follows its own path and pursues different goals.
Mechanics
In Octopath Traveler we get a diverse, detailed world - apart from exploring its nooks and crannies, we perform missions commissioned by neutral characters and fight against opponents. At this point, a unique feature of this position comes to the fore - each of the heroes has an individual specialization that can be used in a variety of ways within the "Path Action"; for example, Olberic (who is a warrior) challenges people to duels, while Primrose (who specializes in dance) can lure any character and force them to support him in battle.
Clashes with adversaries play an important role - we fight in turn-based mode, and during them we charge a special indicator, the filling of which allows you to increase the strength of the hero or the number of his life points. As you progress, your character develops his skills, allowing him not only to take on increasingly difficult quests, but also to eliminate increasingly powerful enemies.
Technical aspects
Octopath Traveler attracts attention thanks to its original design, which is maintained in a unique style combining 16-bit sprites with a three-dimensional pixel art environment; the whole is enriched with contemporary visual effects like dynamic lighting.
