The fifth installment in a series of MMA sports games licensed by UFC. EA Sports UFC 5 introduces a body damage system, revamps grounded combat and features high-quality visuals.
EA Sports UFC 5 is the fifth installment in a series of MMA-focused sports games originating from 2014. It's officially licensed by UFC and was developed by EA Sports.
The gameplay of EA Sports UFC 5 focuses on fights. Though the game is highly arcade, the developers did their best to make the fights look as realistic as possible. To succeed we must learn our opponents' strengths and weaknesses, developing a combat style capable of exploiting both. As befitting a licensed game, it features actual, real-life fighters. Some legendary fighters, like Muhammad Ali, also make an appearance.
The game features a brand new body damage system. Injuries taken by the fighters affect their mobility, defense and stamina. Too much damage may result in a doctor's intervention, who'll decide whether the injured fighter can keep going. Grounded combat was also improved, being smoother and more realistic. Knock-outs are replayed, letting us get a closer look at the effective, impressive finishing moves.
EA Sports UFC 5 supports singleplayer, as well as local and online multiplayer.
EA Sports UFC 5 runs on the Frostbite engine. The character models are full of detail and the animations are very realistic.

Game Ratings for EA Sports UFC 5 Video Game.
GamingBolt: 7 / 10 by Ravi Sinha
EA Sports UFC 5 is a solid, if not particularly inventive, follow-up in the series. It can be fun, warts and all, but long-time fans will want for more.
The Outerhaven Productions: 3 / 5 by Jordan Andow
UFC 5 is a good game, but the move to a new engine isn't as revolutionary as it has been in the past for other EA franchises. Sure, it looks and sounds better, but I could never escape the feeling that I was just playing a nicer-looking UFC 4. If you have that game you don't need to buy this one, you'll enjoy your time all the same.
Hardcore Gamer: 4 / 5 by Cory Wells
Outside of a straightforward Career Mode and an 0nline mode that has occasional hiccups with connectivity, however, there isn't much to do for a single-player experience. One can train and spar and focus on playing online or taking their created player online with a few different match options, but that's about it. The focus is the fighting, as it should be, and this is where UFC 5 brings home the gold. If there is one UFC game to get, this would be it.
