A complex real-time strategy primarily about building our own space bases. In Era One we try to find a new home for humanity after exhausting Earth's resources. We design our own bases & ships, as well as take part in space battles with hostile forces.
Era One is a combination of a battle RTS with a game about building space bases and ships. It is a project of the British studio Team Complex LTD, creators of the Complex mod for Homeworld 2, praised by fans of the series.
Era One presents a vision of the future in which the Earth's resources have been exhausted and humanity has begun the Great Colonization of planets. The emergence of mining corporations led to conflicts and an increase of space piracy. The discovery of a powerful energy source resulted in the construction of Navi Mondo, fortified and self-sufficient huge cities, providing shelter for immigrants from various planets.
Due to the imminent exhaustion of resources and the threat from genetically modified biominers, the Free Federation of Worlds intended to migrate using hyperspace jump technology. However, the colonial ships encountered a gravitational anomaly. After the resumption of wars and the collapse of the political system, chaos ensued. Alya De Shars decided to steal the power source in order to launch a secret ship and start civilization anew beyond the Solar System.
In Era One we create space bases from scratch, using a set of assembly modules and constructing different types of structures without restrictions on shape and size. The constructed base requires resource management, gathering of raw materials, and taking care of the workforce. There are also needs for fortifications, towers, and traps set up to defend against external threats. At the same time, we must conduct research, unlocking new possibilities in technology.
One of the core elements of the game is designing our own spaceships. The game allows to create unique and visually distinctive ships. Freedom in selecting components, including propulsion systems, weapons, cargo holds and utility modules, provides flexibility in tailoring ships to specific functional roles and allows for experimentation in optimizing them for exploration, combat or trade. As we progress in Era One we upgrade these systems, increasing speed, firepower, improving defense, or providing greater exploration capabilities via scanners.
Finally, we can test our ships and strategic skills in tactical battles where we utilize advanced fleet formations of our own creation.
Era One offers both a single-player campaign, multiplayer matches and fights with opponents controlled by artificial intelligence. It also has a level editor.
Era One was created using the Unity engine. The music was provided by the pianist Alberto Selvaggi.
