White Star Studio is an independent development team that delivered a city builder titled Thriving City: Song in 2024. One of its subsequent projects was Feastopia, a culinary production of this type, enriched with roguelite elements, inspired by Poland's Against the Storm.
In Feastopia the action is viewed in an isometric view. Our overriding goal is to erect a culinary metropolis, above which we g?ve buildings with a look inspired by specific dishes (with desserts at the top).
To do this, we need to create efficient production chains. These encompass the entire process of food creation, from planting plants and acquiring ingredients, to processing them and preparing dishes. Although our operation is quite intimate at first, as Feastopia grows and its residents arrive, the scale of production r? also begins to grow.
Since it is not only quantity that is important, but also quality, you have to take care of your employees by training them and developing their skills. Personnel are useful both on-site and in the field. Sending your subordinates into the wilderness, you discover treasures, rare resources and unique recipes.
Things are complicated by the fact that the city has to contend with natural disasters. Not wanting to risk its fate, it is advisable to prepare in advance for their arrival.
We measure our success by the indicators of health and resident satisfaction. In addition to these, we should also strive to satisfy the young population. Although it has a great appetite, which we should try to satisfy (otherwise the consequences may be lamentable), the game is worth the candle. By feeding the "baby", we improve its stats and unlock special attributes and new development paths.
The maps on which the game takes place, as well as the recipes we use for dishes, are procedurally generated. This makes each successive metropolis look slightly different from the previous one and is based on different pillars.
Feastopia takes us to a fantastic world. During the gameplay, we play the role of a city manager. After an egg fell from the sky, from which a young b?g hatched, we signed a mysterious contract with him. Under the contract, we undertook to feed the b?g in exchange for the opportunity to create a true food capital.
