Galactic Civilizations III: Retribution is an expansion to the 2015's 4X space strategy. The add-on introduces a number of novelties and improvements to the game, including artifacts, hypergates, and two completely new civilizations. The game was created by Stardock Corporation studio - they are the authors of the base game and the previous installments in the series (since 2003, they have been consistently developing the Galactic Civilizations series, but they are also responsible for a few other very successful productions, such as Elemental: Fallen Enchantress or The Political Machine cycle).
Ancient alien artifacts have been discovered throughout the galaxy, offering civilizations completely new and powerful possibilities. Almost simultaneously, people from Sol III invented a new technology called Hypergates, which allow them to move quickly across the galaxy. However, the dangerous Drengin Empire does not sit there idly....
Galactic Civilizations III: Retribution introduces a number of improvements and new mechanics to the base game. Players gain access to two completely new civilizations - the manipulative Drath and the threatening Korath who exterminate their adversaries. In addition, during the game we can find artifacts that offer our nation instant access to powerful abilities.
Hypergates are also a big novelty - by building them in different, distant places in the galaxy, we can quickly move entire fleets of starships, paving the way to completely new strategic opportunities. The proverbial "cherry on top" represents the changes in the technology tree, the aim of which is to add more depth and clarity to the gameplay.
Galactic Civilizations III: Retribution adds a new single player campaign to the game. The so-called Retribution Campaign focuses on the conflict with the Drengin Empire.
Galactic Civilizations III: Retribution does not change the graphic design of the base game - in terms of technology it is still the same production, but interesting projects of new civilizations (races, buildings, ships), still bring a fresh breath to the whole experience.
