Lacuna - A Sci-Fi Noir Adventure is a 2D science fiction and noir adventure game. This is another indie game released by Assemble Entertainment, and it was developed by the German studio DigiTales Interactive.
As the title suggests, Lacuna - A Sci-Fi Noir Adventure takes us into the distant future, to a huge metropolis where a high-profile murder occurs. The case is investigated by Neil Conrad, an agent of the CDI organisation. What he doesn't realise is that this investigation will turn his life, and the entire solar system, upside down.
The debut game from DigiTales is inspired by classic point-and-click adventure games, but it introduces many changes compared to the typical representatives of the genre. Lacuna - A Sci-Fi Noir Adventure abandons inventory management, fanciful puzzles, repetitive dialogues and point-and-click mechanics in favour of control system taken from 2D platformers and action games, as well as conversations and puzzles closely related to the game's plot. The authors also focus heavily on the protagonist's choices. In the course of the game Neil Conrad must constantly make difficult decisions, for example choosing between the right of state and the safety of his loved ones. Each action has its consequences, which ultimately lead to one of many endings.
Lacuna - A Sci-Fi Noir Adventure uses the popular pixel art style, inspired by classic adventure titles from the 90s.
