Release Date: October 10, 2025
A remastered version of the well received 2,5D platforming-adventure game with horror elements, originally released in 2017. Little Nightmares: Enhanced Edition features better graphics (including ray tracing support) and various gameplay improvements, like modified checkpoints for saving progress.
In an attempt to encourage players to purchase Little Nightmares III, Bandai Namco announced on June 24, 2025, a refreshed version of the first installment of the series, originally released in 2017. It was immediately made available to players who pre-ordered the "third" game (the rest had to wait for the proper debut of the remaster a few months longer). The original was developed by Tarsier Studios, and it was refreshed by Engine Software BV studio.
The core gameplay, the plot, and other content remain unchanged, but there are visual and technical enhancements that distinguish the Enhanced Edition from the original version. They include ray tracing, improved lighting and visual effects, volumetric shadows, higher texture resolution, and shorter loading times.
Thanks to the refresh on consoles, we can play the first Little Nightmares in 4K resolution and at 60 frames per second. The game allows us to choose between quality and performance mode to adjust the visual settings or the number of frames per second to our own preferences.
The checkpoint system used to create save points has been modified, but it is not possible to transfer saves between the original and refreshed edition.
With a lighter as our only constant possession, we explore dark locations in search of an escape route. The advantage over adults is given to us by the short stature of a child's figure, thanks to which we manage to use narrow passages and climb onto drawers and shelves.
In Little Nightmares we don't engage in direct combat and instead we sneak around carefully and quietly, or distract our adversaries. Sometimes we defeat opponents by using elements of the environment.
There are skill-based sequences in the form of jumping on platforms. We can also solve simple environmental puzzles. In many places, we have to find the key hidden in a drawer, under the bed, or in the hand of a mannequin to open the door, which involves moving furniture, climbing, and avoiding the enemy.
In Little Nightmares: Enhanced Edition, we take on the role of Six, a lonely girl lost in a huge metal complex known as The Maw. This place is surrounded by dangerous, distorted versions of adults. The child's task is to escape.

Little Nightmares is a series of arcade platform games maintained in the horror convention and reminiscent of titles like the iconic Limbo. The first installment hit the market in 2017, while the release of the second was held in February 2021. Responsible for the production of both parts is an independent Swedish company Tarsier Studios, already known for its work on the series of platformers Little Big Planet. The games, meanwhile, were published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, a Japanese company formed in 2014 by the merger of Bandai and Namco.
