An adventure game, in which the gameplay lasts only sixty seconds – after the time elapses, we begin the game anew in the protagonist’s home, keeping progress in the story and picked-up items. Minit offers pixel-art visuals inspires by titles from the 8-bit era.
Minit is a unique adventure game developed by four independent developers: Kitty Calis, Jan Willem Nijman, Jukkio Kallio and Dominik Johann. The game was released thanks to the efforts of Devolver Digital (a publisher of titles such as Downwell, Hotline Miami, Reigns, or Ruiner).
Minit takes us to an extraordinary world inhabited by strange anthropomorphic beings. The universe suffers from an unusual curse – every day lasts only sixty seconds. The players assume the role of a hero that attempts to reach the source of the problem and get rid of it once and for all.
In Minit, the action is seen from a top-down perspective. We begin the game in the hero’s home – this is the location from which we embark on our journeys, during which we complete tasks for neutral characters, fight against encountered opponents (the battles take place in real time, and test the player’s agility), or solve environmental puzzles. The actions above are mainly complicated by the fact that we only receive a single minute to complete these actions – after the minute elapses, the hero awakes in his bed. Fortunately, we keep the amassed items and unlock new hideouts that serve as safe houses which enable us to continue our journey from a different location.
Minit offers two-dimensional graphics and a minimalistic design – the game maintains pixel-art visuals inspired by titles from the 8-bit era and monochromatic colors, as well as offers a chiptune soundtrack.
