After designing the visual novel Firebird, the independent French studio Ludogram created Monsters are Coming! Rock & Road. It is a title that combines city-building with roguelike, tower defense, and arena survival elements.

Gameplay

Monsters Are Coming! modifies the tower defense formula by placing the defended fortress on a mobile chassis. Our character automatically attacks encountered enemies, thereby collecting wood, stone, and gold. However, the character does not act alone, as they have a moving castle on wheels. The mobile fortress also has offensive capabilities thanks to various types of weapons.

With the acquired resources, we expand the base with new turrets, walls, and structures from a random pool. Since the towers rotate with the movement of the city, we are forced to consider their layout carefully. The aforementioned stone increases the castle's durability, while wood affects its attack strength. In addition to bonuses for the entire fortress, which include faster resource gathering, sturdier barricades, and improved chassis handling, we also enhance our character's stats.
