Frozen Cortex is set in the distant future, in which the most popular sport is a futuristic version of American football featuring robot players. During you turn, you plan the moves of your whole team, and then you watch them executed during action sequences, which last several seconds each. Thanks to this system, unlike in other sports games, the gameplay does not focus on reacting to your opponent's moves, but on predicting them. Thus to win, you need an appropriate tactical plan, which takes into account all possible moves your opponent can execute. Frozen Cortex features a single player mode, in which you play against the AI, and an online multiplayer mode. In the first mode, you can participate in a single match or play through a whole season with your team. Frozen Cortex features fully 3D visuals and a soundtrack created by the studio's previous game's composer.

Developed by Digital Dreams Entertainment, Mutant Football League is a spiritual successor to a 1993 game under the same title released on Sega Mega Drive. The nuclear war, which took place years before the events presented in the game, has led to the extinction of the majority of human population. To make things even worse, the cataclysm has caused dead bodies to rise from their graves, demons to leave their underground lairs, and living creatures to mutate. The new inhabitants of the planet did not abandon numerous forms of entertainment, including the titular Mutant Football League – a parody of American football. Player’s goal is to win a season comprising 13 matches. When conventional methods fail, one can appeal to some dirty tricks like bribing the referee. Due to the nature of this sport, the matches can be very brutal. One can command the titular mutants, aliens, animated skeletons, battle droids, and football players that came straight from hell. The players can utilize a wide arsenal of weapons (featuring knuckle-dusters, battle-axes, chainsaws, and even grenades) along with numerous special abilities. Among the peculiar features of the game, one can find the system of traps, mines, lava pools and toxic clouds ever-present on the football field. Additionally, the changing weather system affects the game with its acid rains and violent storms.

A turn-based sports game based on a table-top game that takes place in the Warhammer universe. Blood Bowl: Kerrunch is a mobile installment of the series that consists of two well received installments on home consoles. Blood Bowl is a brutal version of American football in which various races of the Old World participate, including humans, dwarves, elves, orcs and goblins. The matches are turn-based and take place on small levels that consist of forty square fields. Groups of five creatures are competing against each other and trying to obtain three touchdowns. Since there are no other rules, the matches are filled with violence and brutal actions. The main task of the player is to position his characters in correct way, allowing the catcher to get to the opponent's half of the field. The team can be composed of a few dozen of characters. In Blood Bowl: Kerrunch player can compete in a tournament that consists of two hundred matches. The developers also implemented a multiplayer mode that enables the players to compete with each other.

Another annual installment belonging to a popular sports franchise developed by Electronic Arts and advertised with the name of the legendary American football player, trainer and commentator - John Madden. When it comes to the gameplay itself, the game makes a step forward on the line of the franchise's development, combining traditional and successful mechanics with a portion of new features, making the experience more enjoyable. In production of this installment, the creators were focused on expanding the Franchise career mode and making it better in general. In this mode, the player leads their team through subsequent seasons, taking responsibility for all the aspects related to how the team functions. Above all, it is worth mentioning that the game features new controls for the ball keeper, as well as improved AI of defensive formations. As usual, the game offers a complete set of licensed teams and detailed statistics describing particular players. Thanks to the special Madden 365 system, these statistics are updated on a regular basis during the season.
