Neon White

Neon White is an action platform game that requires dexterity, reflexes, and an accurate eye. Independent developer Ben Esposito, who created the warmly welcomed Donut County and previously worked on such projects as What Remains of Edith Finch and The Unfinished Swan, is the creator of this game. The game was published by Annapurna Interactive.

Plot

The protagonist of Neon White is an assassin named White. He, like many of his colleagues, has left Hell and tried to pass through the gates of Heaven. As only one of them will have the chance to redeem himself and gain salvation, they face a fierce competition which will be won by the fastest and most efficient competitor.

Mechanics

In Neon White the action is presented from a first person perspective (FPP). We dash through various stages, jump over gaps, avoid traps and face numerous enemies in a dynamic gameplay. We eliminate enemies by using Soul Cards, which provide a variety of combat skills. Our deck contains items such as those that allow us to shoot enemies with pistols and rifles, or to attack enemies with katana. However, it does not end there, as we can sacrifice every card. Despite the fact that in this way we reduce our combat potential, we gain the ability to perform special moves, such as longer jumps or a temporary increase in running speed.

On the other hand, during breaks from the murderous rivalry we learn about the plot, discovering the secrets of the Heavens and meeting the protagonist's competitors.

Technical aspects

Neon White has colourful cartoon graphics. Overall design is good, and also clear, which allows you to quickly get oriented in the situation prevailing on the battlefield. The pace of the struggle is intensified by the fast soundtrack. The whole thing is pleasing to the eye, as well as clear, which allows you to quickly see the situation prevailing on the battlefield.
