Nordhold is a combination of a turn-based city builder strategy and a tower defense game, set in a fantasy world inspired by Nordic countries of the medieval era. The production was handled by StunForge, an independent two-person studio from Germany.

Gameplay

Nordhold throws us into a procedurally generated world, where our task is to build a Nordic settlement and ensure its defense. The gameplay is divided into two phases. The economic aspect involves the development of the village, which includes constructing buildings (20 different to choose from), managing resources, and trading. The market is not open every round and is subject to price changes due to inflation. We conduct research through the university.

A somewhat separate hexagonal map leads to our village. On it, in the defense phase, we have to repel the attacks of opponents using diversified towers and a chosen general. We also take advantage of bonuses offered by selectable banners, unique hero traits, and acquired upgrades, the number of which in Nordhold exceeds one hundred. The waves of aggressors are gradually gaining strength, but successful protection is rewarded.
