An exploration adventure game, in which you play as a recruit of the new space program called Outer Wilds Ventures. Your task is to study a mysterious solar system functioning in a time loop.
Outer Wilds is the third game by the indie studio Mobius Digital, known for Beacon 38 and Terra Chroma, an exploration game and an RPG with puzzle elements. This time, they've created an open world adventure game.
Outer Wilds is a first-person adventure game, in which we play as a recruit of the Outer Wilds Ventures space program, tasked with studying the changing solar system stuck in a time loop. The game hides many mysteries, the most important one being: can the loop be stopped? There are also many smaller plot threads to discover, such as mysterious ruins on one of the moons.
Gameplay-wise, Outer Wilds mostly focuses on exploration. We must travel between planets aboard a small spacecraft. After landing, we can start exploring the areas on foot. Every planet hides different secrets and locations. We may encounter underground cities, notes left behind by unknown species or have the planet collapse beneath our feet. The areas also change over time, meaning they're different depending on at what point in the loop we visit them. For example, if we visit the city too late, we may find it swallowed by sand. While exploring we'll make use of various gadgets, for such purposes as tracking signals. We can equip them at our base camp, where we can also replenish oxygen and rest by the fire.
Outer Wilds is a 3D first-person game. It features a distinctive artstyle and its areas are very diverse, differing in terms of terrain, vegetation or lack thereof, and many other aspects.

Game Ratings for Outer Wilds Video Game.
Metro GameCentral: 8 / 10
A fantastically imaginative, time-bending puzzle adventure that makes full use of one of the most enjoyably interactive game worlds in a long time.
Nintendo Life: 9 / 10 by Roland Ingram
If you can overlook the technical challenges – and we could – Outer Wilds remains a wondrous experience on Switch. With almost no gating and a free rein to investigate a rich corner of the universe, it captures the quest for learning in the most direct way possible: the only reward for progress is knowledge. Starting with no information at all, you come to understand the intricacies of this little solar system better than its inhabitants. Having soared through such an epic, introspective, and existentially inquisitive adventure, we probably came to understand ourselves a little more, too.
PC Gamer: 89 / 100 by Phil Savage
Beneath its charming and inventive worlds, Outer Wilds hides a cleverly unfolding mystery.
