OUTER WILDS: ECHOES OF THE EYE IN A NUTSHELL:
  • Developer: Mobius Digital
  • Publisher: Annapurna Interactive
  • Genre: adventure game
  • Platforms: PC, XONE, PS4, Switch
  • Release date on PC, XONE, PS4: September 28, 2021.
  • Release date on Switch: end of 2021.

Yesterday we've seen a presentation by Annapurna Interactive. One of the most interesting projects announced during this show turned out to be Outer Wilds: Echoes of the Eye, an expansion for the theexcellent adventure game by Mobius Digital studio, which won the BAFTA award for the best game of 2019.

This is a non-standalone expansion, so to play you will need the full version of Outer Wilds. We will not have to wait long for the release, as the expansion will launch on September 28 this year on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Thanks to backward compatibility also owners of Xbox Series X / S and PlayStation 5 will be able to play. There are also plans to release it on Nintendo Switch, but it will debut on the market at the end of the year.

It is worth adding that the PC version of Outer Wilds: Echoes of the Eye will debut simultaneously on Epic Games Store and Steam. This is important because the basic edition of the game was an exclusive title for the former. This will not be the case with the expansion.

Unfortunately, the announcement of the project was not accompanied by too many details about its content. A mysterious teaser was shown and it was announced that elements from Echoes of the Eye will be woven into the structure of the main Outer Wilds. The plot of the expansion revolves around an anomaly that members of the space program are unable to link to any of the known locations in the planetary system. To discover what is behind this phenomenon, we will have to face the darkest secrets of the farthest reaches of space.
