A collection of remasters of the first two games from the popular strategy-rhythm series, published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. Patapon 1+2 Replay brings back 2 games which originally debuted on the PSP handheld, forcing us to press certain button combinations to give various orders to the titular characters.
Patapon 1+2 Replay is a compilation of remastered versions of the first two installments of the cult strategy-rhythm game series. This collection was developed by the Japanese studio SAS, while its release was handled by Bandai Namco Entertainment (which received a license to use the brand from Sony Interactive Entertainment).
In Patapon 1+2 Replay we watch the action from the side. During the game, we take control of a squad of titular creatures, who set off on an expedition in search of a new home.
Individual Patapons were differentiated in terms of classes (roles) determining their characteristics, equipment, and skills. Some of the class examples are Tatepon equipped with a shield, Yumipon shooting a bow, or Hatapon leading allies and holding a flag. Our task is to compose such a unit, whose members will complement each other. They must be ready to face increasingly greater threats.
While leading the Patapons, we give them commands by pressing a sequence of buttons, each of which triggers a hit on one of the drums: Pata, Pon, Don, and Chaka. Depending on the combination of strikes we initiate, we will give our characters a different command. For example, we can order them to move forward, adopt a defensive stance, or launch an attack. In order to achieve success, we must not only remember individual commands, but also demonstrate a sense of rhythm.
As we progress, we improve the Patapons, creating their more powerful variants, and also equipping them with new weapons and other equipment.
Compared to the originals, the described remasters stand out due to new features that enhance the comfort of gameplay. This compilation allows us to adjust the level of difficulty and change the pace of pressing buttons, as well as permanently "pin" the drum icon to the screen. Additionally, the whole thing has been adapted to work in higher resolutions.

Game Ratings for Patapon 1+2 Replay Video Game.
Cloud Dosage: 3.4 / 5 by Jon Scarr
Patapon 1+2 Replay brings back two of the PSP’s most unique rhythm-strategy games with sharper visuals, smooth performance, and a few helpful tweaks. The core gameplay is still fun and challenging, and Patapon 2 gives you more to mess around with. There’s nothing new in terms of content or story, but the rhythm-command loop still feels great.
NookGaming: 7 / 10 by John Rafael
Patapon 1+2 Replay is a faithful remaster of the rhythm/action games from the PSP era. While simple in its conceived gameplay loop, it rewards skillful play by providing significant bonuses through systems like Fever and good decision making through telegraphed enemy actions. By paying close attention to stage gimmicks and behavior patterns, you can guide your cute anthropomorphic eyeball tribe to success as they journey to the promised land of Earthend. Because it is a faithful remaster of the original games, Patapon 1+2 Replay retains the same problems and inconveniences that their predecessors had in both its repetitive gameplay, random loot system, and sometimes weirdly timed introduction of progression items. As a series that encourages the player to grind, the lack of variation in its minigames and non-repeatable story stages make for a less than stellar post-game experience. The novelty of the game within the rhythm slash strategy genre, however, makes it a memorable pickup back then and even until now. For a respectable $30 US price point, Patapon 1+2 Replay delivers with incredible quality for remastered games’ standards that seamlessly runs on modern machines. With quirky, fun backgrounds and creature designs that’ll have your heart hurting with their cuteness, Bandai Namco’s rerelease of this beloved classic is one both new and veteran players can appreciate. Just take note of the possible input delay in some features of the game; it can make or break your overall experience if you get fixated on it.
Rectify Gaming: 8.5 / 10 by Will "FncWill" Hogeweide
PATAPON 1+2 REPLAY isn’t trying to reinvent the series. It doesn’t need to. These two games stand tall as some of the most original titles ever made for a handheld, and they work just as well now with a controller in hand and the volume up. It’s a love letter to fans and a gateway drug for newcomers. The drums are calling. The tribe is waiting. And the beat goes on.
