Planet of Lana 2: Children of the Leaf is a sequel of a cinematic platforming game with adventure elements titled Planet of Lana, released in 2023. The second game was developed by the creators of the original, namely the independent studio Wishfully. It was prepared in such a way that it would be accessible not only for those familiar with the original, but also for new players.

Gameplay

In Planet of Lana 2: Children of the Leaf we watch the events from the side, but the camera regularly changes perspective, showing the action in a more "cinematic" way.

New adventure

We control the titular female protagonist in the game. She is accompanied by a creature known as Mui. Lana goes through various locations, jumps on platforms, avoids terrain obstacles, deals with traps and encounters other dangers, led by enemies standing in her way (their presence forces her to use stealth). Solving environmental puzzles also plays an important role here. A large part of them requires cooperation between Lana and her companion, to whom we can give orders.

Biggest new features

Compared to the original game, Planet of Lana II: Children of the Leaf stands out due to its larger scale, which applies to both the depicted world and the story told here. The developers have also expanded the range of Lana's movements - she can now bounce off walls or perform slides. The sequel also features greatly improved stealth mechanics.

Lana finds herself in yet more trouble in Planet of Lana 2: Children of the Leaf, a game which proves to be a bigger, bolder sequel with more gameplay variety. Needless to say, it's a must-play for fans of the first game.

GameRant: 9 / 10 by Nick Rodriguez

Planet of Lana 2 won’t tickle the dopamine centers of your gamer brain, but there’s a very strong chance it will pull on your heartstrings. More than this, it will engage your imagination like few other games can, presenting its one-of-a-kind world with the utmost confidence and panache. And with best-in-class art direction and arresting musical composition to boot, Lana 2 is more than deserving of a spot on the narrative-platformer Mount Rushmore, right alongside the likes of Inside and Gris.

Destructoid: 8.5 / 10

Planet of Lana 2 offered exactly what I wanted from a puzzle-platformer that engages on both an intellectual and emotional level. It’s an upgrade from the first game and one I’d highly recommend to any puzzle-platforming fan.
