In October 2025, Game Freak studio released Pokemon Legends: Z-A - an RPG game from the ninth generation of the main Pokemon series. Mega Dimension described here is the first major expansion for this production, created by the developers of the base version.

New features in the expansion

The biggest innovation introduced in Pokemon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension is the so-called hyperspace, which is a parallel reality. An alternative version of Lumiose City awaits to be visited, inhabited by Pokemon that are hard to find in the standard version of the city. It can be reached through portals opened by the Pokemon Hoopa belonging to the pastry chef Ansha.

Hear me out, what if the mysterious Game Awards statue is a Pokémon thing?

Yeah, probably not. But there is one new detail from today's Mega Dimension DLC for Pokémon Legends: Z-A that looks surprisingly similar to that statue.

Mega Dimension adds a lot of content for players who already enjoy Pokémon Legends: Z-A. There are more Pokémon to collect, new Mega Evolutions, and a boost in difficulty that keeps things challenging. Its story and setting don’t offer much that’s new, and many of the base game’s characters don’t get much time in the sun. For players who loved the original, there’s plenty here to enjoy and experiment with, but if the base game didn’t grab you, this DLC isn’t likely to change that.

Mega Dimension adds more to Pokemon Legends: Z-A, but doesn't necessarily make the game much better.

If you enjoyed the base game like I did, the best bits of Pokémon Legends: Z-A are still present in Mega Dimension. The combat is still engaging, the characters you live and work with are still endearing, and the new Pokédex is fun to complete. This DLC, much like Z–A itself, feels like it will be a Marmite one.
