An artistic platformer featuring turn-based combat. The protagonist of Worldless must traverse a mysterious world, uncover its secrets and find a place for themselves.
Worldless is an artistic platformer themed around personality development and self-awareness. It was developed by Noname Studios, published by Coatsink and Thunderful.
Worldless is set in a newborn world before its laws of existence have been clearly defined. The shapeless land consists of two realities: the first one is inhabited by still developing and shaping beings fascinated by their nature, while the second is made of their aspirations. We play as a ghostly figure traversing the world, discovering its secrets and trying to find a place for itself.
Worldless is a side-scroller. The player must head right, jump on platforms, avoid traps, obstacles and glide through the air. We'll also encounter enemies in turn-based battles. The player must guard, counter-attack and chain their moves into comos. To succeed, we must exhibit tactical sense, patience and timing. As we progress through the game, we unlock new abilities and increase our combat capabilities.
Worldless features distinctive, minimalist visuals. Unusual locations full of different colors and vague shapes are rather memorable, and so are the character designs (the main protagonist, for instance, is depicted as several disconnected shapes). The soundtrack is atmospheric and fits the tone well.

Game Ratings for Worldless Video Game.
Nintendo Life: 8 / 10 by Ken Talbot
Worldless attempts to differentiate itself from its peers by adding satisfying turn-based combat to the usual Metroidvania loop. It largely succeeds, helped by an intoxicating art style and varied puzzle mechanics. Some difficulty spikes interrupt the flow and knock the dreamlike exploration off balance, but you'll feel compelled to overcome them.
Softpedia: 8.5 / 10 by Cosmin Vasile
Worldless shines when players enter battle with a new opponent for the first time, discovering its moves and weaknesses. It’s fun to watch for patterns and create attack combos, with plenty of tension added when trying to perform the Absorption move. Platforming isn’t as complex as combat but adds variety.
Hardcore Gamer: 4 / 5 by Jordan Helm
Though its turn-based combat may end up doing most of the heavy-lifting, that Noname Studios have cleverly crafted something that's both fleshed out and as appealing as it is, means Worldless still winds up a delightful studio debut.
