Naval Action

Sea Legends is a simulator that allows players to take on the role of the captain of an 18th century ship. The game is very realistic and offers an open, sandbox-like gameplay model. The Game-Labs team (creators of Naval Action and Ultimate General: Civil War) is responsible for the development and release of this game.

Plot

Sea Legends takes place in the 18th century, at a time when great powers fought for influence on the seas and oceans, also competing with ruthless pirates (the beginning of the 18th century is the so-called Golden Age of Piracy, during which black-flagged ships terrorized merchants and coastal towns).

Mechanics

Sea Legends gameplay combines a high level of complexity and realism with a common sense approach. The gameplay mechanics are presented in a simple way - we play the role of a captain who can move around his ship and interact with various objects and tools (e.g. a compass, telescope, maps or barometer). We can sleep in our cabin, watch the hold and deck, and even go ashore to have a cold drink in a tavern with other sailors.

The player is free to decide who he want to become. We can play a smuggler, secretly transporting various goods (we must be fast enough to get away if necessary, or smart enough to know where to effectively hide goods - on or off the ship). The second option is the career of a corsair - a sanctioned pirate attacking merchant ships belonging to hostile states.

The production allows for sailing in the North Sea and Mediterranean basins, and the locations are based on historical knowledge. As we progress, the hero skills evolve (the game has a simplified RPG mechanics that illustrates issues such as health or amount of damage). The abilities of our crew are also gradually improving. We assign specific people to positions, we also take care of providing rest, food and medical care. Exploiting their own people can lead to rebellion, and treating them accordingly makes them respect their captain.

It is also necessary to invest in the ship (each unit is described by a number of statistics) and take care of its condition - for example, guns can rust and wood can rot. We can also give a ship a name that will later be recognized and respected by other sailors (provided, of course, that we become famous for something that is actually worthy of respect - for example, we win a loud sea battle).

In the game you will find a system that reliably represents the wind and various natural weather phenomena - storms or wave behaviour. The authors have also developed a mechanics of "crime and punishment" in which pirates and other criminals are punished for breaking the law and can end up on a rope. The possibility to fight duels and compete with other characters from the game world was also taken care of.

Game modes

In Sea Legends, we can only play alone. The game does not offer any multiplayer mode, although the creators plan to add it in the future.
