Reinforcements is the second DLC for the real-time strategy game set in a science-fiction universe, featuring additional 4X elements. The development, as in the case of the base Sins of a Solar Empire II, was handled by Stardock and Ironclad Games Corporation studios.

New features in the expansion

Sins of a Solar Empire II: Reinforcements expands the fleet of each of the six factions with a new command ship. TEC Enclave receives a huge mobile shipyard for manufacturing cruiser ships, and TEC Primacy gets a fast assault ship with modifiable positions for railguns, missiles or hangars. The Vasari Alliance may use a city-sized ship used to block sectors, while the Vasari Exodus now uses a refugee transport converted into a warship. Advent Wrath has at its disposal a dreadnought equipped with a Superheavy Psychokinetic, while Advent Reborn uses a vertical version of the dreadnought, whose power increases with the defeat of allied forces.
