Slay the Spire 2 PC

Slay the Spire 2 is the second installment of the series bordering between card games and roguelikes, launched in 2019. The sequel was developed by the authors of the first part of the series, namely the independent American studio Mega Crit.

Plot

The action of Slay the Spire 2 takes place a thousand years after the events of the first installment of the series. The gates of the titular spire have been opened again, and daredevils from all over the world can once again cross its threshold to face the dangers lurking there and climb to the very top (or at least try to do so).

Mechanics

In Slay the Spire 2 we take control of the characters who travel through the successive floors of the spire, facing enemies and taking part in various, often unexpected events and encounters. All this to reach the top, where a confrontation with a powerful boss awaits them.

Battles fought in turn-based mode are the key element of the game. During them, we watch the action from the side and play cards corresponding to individual attacks and skills. Over time, we expand our deck, gaining access to more diverse and increasingly powerful cards.

We must be careful, because death is permanent. When we fall on the battlefield, we have to start the entire journey again. The issue is further complicated by the fact that the layout of the rooms and the placement of adversaries change with each run.

The game provides us with a wide range of characters representing specific archetypes, which we gain access to as we progress. Among the enemies, we will find both foes well known from the "first part", as well as completely new opponents.

Technical aspects

The graphic design of Slay the Spire 2 is maintained in a cartoon style. The game runs on the Godot engine.
