Stellaris: Ancient Relics is another story expansion to the space strategy game calles Stellaris. Expansion focuses on the thread of discovering the secrets of ancient civilizations and introduces a number of elements and mechanics related to archaeology. The game was developed and released by the authors of the base game, i.e. Paradox Interactive (also known for its many other strategy games, such as Imperator: Rome or Surviving Mars).
Stellaris: Ancient Relics focuses on the theme of ancient, fallen civilizations - the Precursors. Two races of this type have appeared in the game - The Baol Organism and The Zroni, endowed with psionic powers. Each of them has its own history and characteristic anomaly.
During the game, players get the opportunity to conduct archaeological research on extinct planets - the Relic Worlds. Thanks to their efforts they can discover ancient technology and learn about the history.
The expansion introduces a new type of resource to the game - smaller artifacts that allow players to strengthen their empire.
Stellaris: Ancient Relics does not introduce any new game modes. As in the base game, one can play it alone or with others - in the online multiplayer mode, which allows for both competition and cooperation.
Stellaris: Ancient Relics does not make any changes to the graphic design of the base game.
