A psychological thriller adventure game based on the true story of an American serial murderer - Zodiac. During the game, we travel through climatic locations, solve riddles and make choices that influence the ending of the story.
This is Zodiak Speaking is an adventure game, realized in the convention of a psychological thriller. The production was developed by the independent Polish studio Punch Punk Games (authors of the game Apocalipsis), and its release was handled by the Klabater company. The developers were inspired by productions such as Ethan Carter's Loss, SOMA and Virginia.
The plot of the game This is Zodiac Speaking is based on a true story of a serial murderer using the pseudonym Zodiac, who operated in the United States at the turn of the sixties and seventies of the twentieth century; the police never managed to discover his identity. The title is a reference to one of his letters, which started with the words "This is the Zodiac Speaking".
In This is Zodiac Speaking we observe the action from the first person perspecitve (FPP). As we investigate, we travel through climatic locations and solve numerous riddles; additionally, we have to make various decisions that will determine the way our adventure ends.
The three-dimensional graphics of This is Zodiak Speaking were designed in an original, cartoony style. It is worth noting that the author of the script is Lukasz Orbitowski, whose portfolio includes, among others, a radio play set in the world of This War of Mine.

Game Ratings for This is the Zodiac Speaking Video Game.
Noisy Pixel: 5.5 / 10 by Azario Lopez
This is the Zodiac Speaking is a decent psychological thriller significantly hurt by the Switch’s underpowered hardware. The narrative is there, but everything else falls short in terms of visuals, graphical glitches, and sound. There are some nice features here, but I urge you to play the PC version if you can.
Use a Potion: 4.4 / 10
The core mechanics of This is the Zodiac Speaking and the mystery that it offers are intriguing, but the ugly visuals make it extremely difficult to recommend on the Nintendo Switch. I can’t deny that actually enjoyed investigating the case and seeing how it affects Robert does add a neat personal touch to proceedings, but the fact that it has such a blurry resolution, dark environments that are difficult to make out, and terrible pop-in that springs objects into your viewpoint from out of nowhere just soured the whole experience for me. This is the Zodiac Speaking is certainly playable on the Nintendo Switch and in fairness it does have its moments where even the graphics are passable (even if they are few and far between) – if you really want to enjoy the clever concept of the game though, I’d implore you to try it on a platform where the awful visuals won’t ruin the experience for you.
Nintendo Life: 4 / 10 by Oliver Reynolds
We commend the approach taken with this game. It’s a thoughtful take on a real-life murder mystery, and although the stealth sections felt a bit unnecessary, the experience as a whole at least felt relatively authentic. Ultimately, though, the gameplay and visuals just aren’t up to scratch at all, and there are far better examples of the genre on Switch that you’d be much better off playing.
