In 2002, the team at Crystal Dynamics partnered with Amazon Game Studios to produce the twelfth main installment of the action-adventure game series titled Tomb Raider. In December 2025, during The Game Awards ceremony, the developers revealed their carefully hidden plans and announced the game Tomb Raider: Catalyst.
In Tomb Raider: Catalyst we view the events from a third-person perspective (TPP). The game provides us with the largest area among all the games released so far that tell the adventures of the famous female archaeologist. As we traverse it, we solve the mysteries of antiquity and strive to prevent the destruction of the modern world. In keeping with the spirit of the series, we can achieve this by exploring diverse locations, skillfully avoiding traps and navigating terrain obstacles, as well as fighting opponents.
The action of Tomb Raider: Catalyst takes place in northern India, where mysterious forces have been awakened, initiating a mythical cataclysm. Lara Croft and other adventurers are participating in a race to be the first to uncover ancient secrets, while also preventing the power they conceal from falling into the wrong hands. The protagonist is not alone here and as story progresses we get to know both her allies and rivals better.
Tomb Raider: Catalyst, like Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, operates on Unreal Engine 5 technology.
In Tomb Raider: Catalyst Lara Croft is played by actress Alix Wilton Regan, who became known to players thanks to her appearances in the games Dragon Age: Inquisition , Cyberpunk 2077 and Mass Effect 3 .
