inkle is an independent development studio from the UK that has specialized in creating adventure games. It has gained recognition for such projects as Overboard!, Expelled!, Sorcery! and Heaven's Vault. Among his works, one can also find TR-49, an adventure-logic production using elements characteristic of radio dramas.
In TR-49, the action is viewed from a first-person perspective (FPP). During the gameplay we sit at a computer from the time of World War II, from which a mysterious voice comes. Our task is to go through the machine's archives, containing little-known books, letters and diaries.
To do so, we have to solve logic puzzles (for example, requiring breaking ciphers and entering codes), search for hidden links or explore more secrets waiting in individual books and recordings.
We are constantly accompanied here by the voice of a computer tutor, with whom we can talk at any time.
In TR-49 we explore the contents of the titular computer created by Bletchley Park engineers Cecil Caulderly and Beatrice Dooler. The main goal is to find the stolen book and decide its fate, as it is the key to cracking the code of reality. As we progress, we discover more secrets hidden by this device.
The source of inspiration for the tw?rc?w were cult productions(Return of the Obra Dinn or Her Story) and radio plays(The Magnus Archives and ars PARADOXICA).
TR-49 features the voices of such actors as Rebekah McLoughlin(Eternal Threads), Paul Warren(A Highland Song, Viewfinder, The Seance of Blake Manor) and Phillipe Bosher(Baldur's Gate 3). The music, meanwhile, was composed by Laurence Chapman(A Highland Song, Heaven's Vault, Mask of the Rose).

Final Weapon: 3.5 / 5 by Saras Rajpal
TR-49 is an intricately complex puzzle game, for better and for worse. On the one hand, the overabundance of dialogue that relies on exposition, plus obtuse puzzles that emphasize trial and error rather than the deductive reasoning said to be the game's core, is often really frustrating. On the other hand, the satisfaction you feel when you solve a puzzle all on your own, the multiple endings, and the affordable price make it a game that I'm excited to play again at some point down the line, in spite of my frustrations with it.
Hey Poor Player: 3.5 / 5 by Andrew Thornton
I really enjoyed playing TR-49, but it’s too wrapped up in its characters for me to totally forgive the fact that I came away from it not caring about any of them. Still, the formula at the center of this one is a winner, and if you’ve already played some of the genre’s very best, TR-49 is absolutely still worth a look.
